In Hendaye, in the Domaine d'Orio, Nahkaa works leather with a rare requirement. Belts, bracelets for women and men, keyrings, necklaces, earrings, aprons: all the accessories of the brand are made by hand, in an approach assumed of high-end craftsmanship.
An exceptional leather, chosen at the source
This is probably the first thing to understand when you discover Nahkaa: leather here is not a detail. The hides are selected in a Basque family tannery, whose know-how has been passed from father to son since 1790, before the French Revolution. This house is labeled Living Heritage Company (state distinction that recognizes exceptional know-how) and internationally renowned for the quality of its vegetable leathers.
Vegetable leather, i.e. tanned from tree bark — a slow, natural process, unlike industrial chemical tanning. The result: a full-flower leather, nourished, dyed in the mass, that does not require any maintenance and that skates beautifully over time. Comfort, flexibility, lifetime: everything is in the material, even before the gesture.
A signature: removable buckle belts
One of Nahkaa's great strengths is its customizable belts. The brand proposes them in :

4 widths: 2 cm, 3 cm, 3,5 cm and 4 cm (the latter adapts to jeans passers-by)
5 colours: black, chestnut, sanded chocolate, red H, natural
System of removable buckles: each belt is equipped with an interchangeable loop made of zinc or silver veneer, to choose according to its desires and its style of the day

The "natural color" option is particularly interesting: the leather is not dyed, it evolves over time until it takes a deep camel tint. A belt that improves in use — the exact opposite of the disposable.
As for finishing, Nahkaa also mastered the technique of repelling leather (a technique of sculpture/gravure of matter) to create lines and patterns that make the difference to the eye.
